RALEIGH, N.C. — Representative Chris Humphrey (R-Lenoir, Greene, Jones) has been a leading voice calling for the N.C. Department of Transportation to re-open a much-needed License Plate Agency office in Greene County — to provide residents efficient access to essential license plate services.
LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations. Currently, 123 license plate agencies operate in North Carolina.
Following Humphrey’s public demands, the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) took swift action:
“I received a call from DMV Commissioner Wayne Goodwin to advise that they have immediately begun seeking applications for an operator to re-open the Greene County License Plate Agency,” said Humphrey, “I’m encouraging any interested parties to apply, so we should see significant movement on this very soon.”
Completed applications must be returned to NCDMV no later than July 14.
The applications (Form MVR-93I, Form MVR-93B, or Form MVR-93M) can be found on the Connect NCDOT website. Interested applicants may call 919-615-8521 with questions.
Representative Chris Humphrey (R) represents Greene, Jones, and Lenoir County in the North Carolina House.
